Skill-Building Longarm Workshops
Developing confidence and control .
These skill-building workshops are for quilters who already have some experience at the longarm frame and are ready to deepen their practice.
The focus is on developing greater machine control, refining design choices, and building ease and consistency as you quilt - without rushing or overcomplicating the process.
Each workshop offers hands-on time at the frame, with space to slow down, ask questions and explore what works best for you and your quilts.
These workshops build naturally on the Foundation sessions but they’re also suitable if you’ve been quilting independently and want to refine your skills.
In skill-building workshops, we often explore:
– Improving machine control and movement
– Making considered design choices for different quilts
– Developing rhythm, flow, and consistency
– Troubleshooting common challenges at the frame

Small Class Sizes for Steady Progress
These workshops are limited to just two participants, allowing for focused learning, unhurried stitching time and individual guidance throughout the day.
You’ll work on professional Bernina longarm equipment, with time shared thoughtfully at the frame so you can observe, practice and learn from each other’s quilting as well as your own. Watching and talking through each other’s quilting is an important part of the day, and often where things start to click.
If you’re primarily a sit-down quilter, you’ll work on the seated longarm machine, with guidance tailored to that way of working.

By the end of the day, you’ll create a sampler of twelve designs to take home - a practical reference you can return to as you build confidence at the frame.
A Menagerie of Meanders
Exploring variations on meandering patterns and how to use them across a quilt.
This workshop explores a range of creative meander styles and how they can be used to fill borders, blocks, and other areas of a quilt.
We’ll look at how small changes in scale, direction, and density can create different effects, helping you expand your visual language and make more considered design choices as you quilt.
A Frenzy of Fillers with some Dinky Doodles
Learning a range of filler designs and how to use them to support quilt layouts.
This workshop explores a wide range of filler designs and how they can be used to support different quilt layouts.

The emphasis is on building ease with freehand fillers and discovering what works best for you as you quilt.
Marvellous Meanders for Lickety Split Quilts
This workshop looks at using meander-style designs to quilt efficiently while still making thoughtful design choices.
You’ll explore how variations in scale, spacing, and movement can add interest and cohesion across a quilt, making meanders a flexible and reliable option for many projects.
The focus is on developing a small set of go-to designs that help you finish quilts with ease, without feeling rushed or compromising on the overall look.

Crazy Continuous Curves

We’ll look at ways to stitch smooth, connected curves using both freehand and rulerwork approaches, paying attention to movement, spacing and repeatability.
You’ll explore how continuous curves can add contrast and softness to both modern and traditional quilts, and how to use them as reliable, adaptable designs across different projects.
This workshop is suitable for quilters working with freehand quilting and those using rulers.
